An excellent piece. Unbelievably good, except that I would disagree that patriarchy is almost non-existent in the West. That’s a bit of a loose end there and could be picked out by someone who wants to ridicule you.

One can blame postmodernism for the present sorry state of liberalism around the world. Just look at the number of countries where there has been a right-wing sweep (ours included), and frightening, quasi-fascistic ideas are being brought to the fore. But the liberals are in no position to counter this because many have sold their souls to the postmodernist Left (I make a distinction between Left and liberal and wish you would too).

Interestingly, Trump and Modi too are phenomena of the postmodernist age. Their’s is a right-wing postmodernism that upends the notion of objective truth too — but in quite a different way. Their upending of the truth speaks to the masses, because it has done away with the liberal effort for human progress and seeks to satisfy base human emotions instead. People want their emotions to turn into reality. Postmodernist right-wing governments give them this satisfaction, even if it is fleeting.

On the other hand, the contradictions within liberalism have blown up into the hands of the postmodernist Left, whose ruminations are ever more disconnected from the masses. When the two types of postmodernists collide, you get a mess of no-ideology ideologies, but only one wins. There are cracks in the edifice of the liberal world order, and the Right is trying to acquire the gunpowder, but it was the Left which first drove the nails in.
